The need to defend oneself in combat suggests protective solutions to man that vary in time and different cultures.

European armour is the result of a specialized protective system, in which a specific element was produced for each individual part of the body, including a closet helmet, and joints enabled movement, both in war and martial games.

Instead, in Islamic countries a mixed armament of iron mesh and metal plates is still used, which guarantees protection flexibility, with open helmets. Even Japanese armour is made of thin lacquered metal plates, connected by colored silk plaits and open helmets with wide edges to protect the neck and sometimes with rigid and embossed busts.

It is surprising how the craftsmen of the time knew how to create such valuable objects for protective capacity, ergonomics and lightness, as well as aesthetic refinement. It is no coincidence that these extraordinary creations are still a source of inspiration for the protection of modern humans in sports and daily life.
